After being routed by Bad News Eagles, Marcelo "coldzera" David gave an interview on stream.
coldzera took some time out for an interview on stream after a crushing opening loss to Bad News Eagles, with his squad managing a measly three rounds on Vertigo. Although 00NATION are not much of a Vertigo team on paper, their captain revealed they had intentionally steered the veto towards the map.
"We were playing a lot of Vertigo in practice, of course we didn't play it too much in officials, but we saw the opportunity as they don't play a good Vertigo, so we tried to abuse that."
Despite only being the opening day of the Challengers Stage, the crowd in Brazil has been vocal. The veteran also highlighted the pressure of the occasion, and how this affected his young squad.
"I think for us the first match is always hard, I think people felt the pressure a little bit of the stage,
"We just told them to breathe a little bit, keep calm, let the game go and get more initiative."
coldzera seemed very aware of what had gone wrong for his team in the match, identifying their struggles to deal with the aggressive approach of Bad News Eagles, despite being well aware of it in advance.
"We had so many rounds we were on ramp, we knew they were playing passive, we wait 40 seconds to execute A, they just reaggress us and pick everyone with nades in hand,
"We knew they play very aggro, but at the same time the initiative was not there, we need someone to say "I can smoke this, I can smoke that," people were a little bit quiet."
00NATION will be hoping they can recover when they head into their 0-1 matchup later today, and that their young squad will have shaken off the early jitters.
